ABOUT THE ROLE Paige Press (Ireland) Limited seeks an Editor to support the development, editing, and publication of commercial fiction titles. The successful candidate will collaborate with authors throughout the editorial process, assisting with story development, manuscript evaluation, developmental editing, continuity review, and publication preparation. This role requires substantial hands-on publishing experience and the ability to strengthen manuscripts while preserving author voice and creative vision. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Review manuscripts and provide editorial feedback regarding plot, pacing, characterization, dialogue, continuity, and reader engagement. Collaborate directly with authors throughout drafting, revision, and publication processes. Assist in the development of story concepts, character arcs, and series continuity. Conduct developmental manuscript reviews and recommend revisions to improve narrative structure and reader experience. Review manuscripts for continuity, consistency, quality control, and publication readiness. Coordinate editorial workflows and project timelines across multiple publications. Assist with proofreading, copyediting review, and final manuscript preparation. Maintain editorial records and project documentation. Support successful publication outcomes in collaboration with authors and publishing staff. REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: Minimum five years’ experience in publishing, editorial, manuscript development, or author-support environments. Experience reviewing and evaluating fiction manuscripts. Experience collaborating directly with authors during manuscript development and revision. Strong understanding of story structure, characterization, pacing, continuity, and narrative development. Excellent written communication and editorial analysis skills. Ability to provide constructive developmental feedback while preserving author voice and creative intent. Experience managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE: Commercial fiction publishing experience. Experience supporting high-volume publishing programs. Experience with story development, character development, and series planning. Experience working within an independent publishing environment. QUALIFICATIONS: No specific post-secondary qualification is required. Equivalent practical experience in editorial, publishing, manuscript development, or related publishing roles will be considered in lieu of formal qualifications.
