We are seeking an experienced Senior Press Toolmaker to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, manufacture, maintenance, and repair of press tooling used in metal stamping operations, with a specific focus on progressive and transfer die tooling. Key Responsibilities Design, build, and maintain progressive and transfer press tools for metal stamping operations Interpret and work from engineering drawings, CAD models, and tool specifications Set up and operate precision grinding, milling, EDM, and related toolroom machinery Diagnose and resolve tooling issues, carrying out repairs and modifications to minimise production downtime Carry out tryouts on new and modified tooling, adjusting to achieve required component quality and tolerances Liaise with production, engineering, and quality teams to ensure tooling meets design intent and customer specifications Maintain accurate tooling records, maintenance logs, and spare parts inventories Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior toolmakers Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with health and safety standards Essential Requirements Minimum 7 years' experience as a Press Toolmaker in a metal stamping environment Proven expertise in progressive and transfer die tooling — design, build, repair and maintenance Strong knowledge of metal stamping processes, press operations, and tooling materials Proficiency in reading and interpreting detailed engineering drawings and GD&T Experience with precision toolroom equipment including surface grinding, CNC milling, wire EDM and spark erosion Trade qualification or diploma in Tool Making, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline preferred Preferred Requirements Experience within the automotive manufacturing sector Familiarity with IATF 16949 / automotive quality standards Exposure to PPAP, FMEA, and new tooling launch processes Experience with CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for tool design or modification
