Position: Theatre Nurse – Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery Employer: Avoca Clinic Limited Location: Unit C, Glencormack Business Park, Kilmacanogue, Co. Wicklow, A98 WK27 Contract: Permanent, Full-Time Department: Theatre & Perioperative Services Avoca Clinic Limited is seeking an experienced Theatre Nurse to join our Theatre and Perioperative Services team, supporting the delivery of high-quality care to patients undergoing plastic and reconstructive surgical procedures. The successful candidate will work as part of the multidisciplinary theatre team and will be responsible for providing safe, professional and patient-centred nursing care throughout the perioperative pathway. Key Responsibilities Provide safe and effective nursing care to patients before, during and after surgical procedures. Prepare patients for surgery and ensure all required documentation and safety checks are completed. Prepare the operating theatre, surgical instruments, equipment and consumables for scheduled procedures. Undertake scrub and circulating duties according to experience and competence. Assist surgeons and anaesthetists during surgical procedures. Maintain strict aseptic technique and infection prevention and control standards. Complete surgical counts and safety checks in accordance with clinic procedures. Ensure appropriate handling, identification and documentation of specimens. Monitor patients and promptly escalate any clinical concerns. Support the safe transfer of patients between theatre and recovery. Maintain accurate and complete nursing documentation. Ensure medicines, equipment and clinical supplies are handled and stored safely. Assist with theatre stock control and report shortages or equipment issues. Participate in theatre preparation, cleaning and turnaround between procedures. Follow all Avoca Clinic policies, procedures and patient-safety requirements. Report incidents, near misses or clinical concerns through the appropriate channels. Maintain patient dignity, privacy and confidentiality at all times. Communicate effectively with patients, surgeons, anaesthetists, nurses and other members of the multidisciplinary team. Participate in mandatory training, clinical updates, audits and quality-improvement activities. Work flexibly according to the theatre schedule and operational requirements of the clinic. Requirements Applicants must be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) and eligible to practise nursing in Ireland. Previous experience working in an operating theatre or surgical environment is required. Experience in plastic, reconstructive or cosmetic surgery would be an advantage. Applicants should demonstrate: Strong theatre and perioperative nursing skills. Good knowledge of infection prevention and control and aseptic technique. Excellent patient-care and communication skills. Good organisational and time-management skills. Accurate clinical documentation and attention to detail.
