Location: Bantry (with the opportunity to pick up shifts across West Cork and potential additional hours in Cork) Hours: Monday - Friday 6.30pm - 10.30pm and optional weekends Pay: €15.59 per hour Paid travel to sites Maintenance Operative We are currently recruiting a reliable and proactive Maintenance Operative to support school sites across West Cork, primarily based in Bantry. This is a key onsite role during evening hours, ensuring the safety, security and smooth running of school facilities, particularly during sports events and activities. This role is ideal for a responsible, flexible individual with good practical/DIY skills who enjoys working independently and being a trusted presence onsite. What you’ll do Be the onsite point of contact during evening hours (typically 6:30pm–8:30pm on weekdays) Provide site supervision during sports events and occasional weekend tournaments (including potential 12-hour shifts on Saturdays or Sundays) Act as a Fire Warden (training/certification required) Provide basic First Aid assistance in the event of an emergency Support the safe operation of the building, including training in HVAC systems Carry out light maintenance and DIY tasks as required Ensure the premises remain secure, safe and well maintained Report any incidents, hazards or maintenance issues promptly There may also be opportunities to pick up additional shifts across other West Cork schools (particularly if you have access to a car) and potentially in university settings in Cork City. What you’ll bring A strong sense of responsibility and reliability Flexibility to work evenings and weekends during school term time Practical DIY or maintenance skills Ability to work independently and respond calmly in emergencies Good communication skills Previous experience as a caretaker, handy person, facilities assistant or fire warden (desirable but not essential) Fire Warden and First Aid certification (or willingness to complete training) Sodexo and our clients are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and adults within a regulated activity.
