The role Costcutter, a grocery retail business in Clonmel, Co. Tipperary, is seeking a full-time Purchasing Manager to plan and manage its purchasing function and keep buying cost-effective across the business. Responsibilities ● Determine what products, supplies, and equipment need to be sourced across the business's product ranges. ● Set purchasing approaches, decide where to seek competitive quotes or tenders, and evaluate supplier offers. ● Negotiate prices, terms, and contracts with suppliers, and prepare purchase orders and contract paperwork. ● Arrange quality checks on incoming goods and hold suppliers to agreed delivery times and standards. ● Research and identify new products and suppliers, meet supplier representatives, and attend trade fairs. ● Forecast demand, monitor stock levels, and manage stock turnover, seasonal demand, and freight and delivery coordination. ● Keep up to date with procurement and food safety requirements and make sure sourcing follows them. Requirements ● A bachelors in Supply Chain Management, Procurement Management, or a related area. ● Experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management, ideally in a retail setting. ● Knowledge of sourcing, supplier management, price and terms negotiation, purchase-order processing, demand forecasting, and stock control. ● Understanding of retail pricing, product margins, inventory management, and stock turnover. ● Strong commercial awareness, analytical ability, negotiation, and communication skills. ● Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and in purchasing, inventory-management, ERP, or point-of-sale systems.
