Galway Regional Youth Federation CLG T/A Youth Work Ireland, Galway, seeks a Social Care Worker , to join the Youth Diversion Project (YDP) team based in Ballinasloe, Galway. Job Purpose: The YDP works with young people, mainly referred by the Gardaí, to address the issues of youth crime and anti-social behaviour. YDP’s are tasked with diverting young people from crime and anti-social behaviour, supporting young people to remain in or return to education and increase their employment potential. Programmes are delivered mostly on a one-to-one basis or in small groups. Key Responsibilities: Workers are expected to liaise with families, other relevant agencies and attend meetings as appropriate. In addition, the Social Care Worker works to ensure compliance with the requirements of the funder and supervise staff and budgets. All Workers are expected to maintain required project documentation and produce reports that comply with the policies and procedures of the establishment and the Operational Guidelines for the projects. Qualifications & Experience: - 3rd level qualification (Level 7 Ordinary Bachelor’s Degree [180 ECTS credits] or above) in youth work or community work, youth justice, social care, counselling, or another appropriate field as well as having at least 2 years’ experience of working with teens in a community setting. - Skills in one-to-one work, group work and case management would be an advantage for all positions. - Excellent IT skills and report writing experience are needed. - Clean driving licence and access to a vehicle for work is necessary for the above post. Renumeration & Working hours: €37,713 Gross per annum based on a 35-hour week - mainly during out-of-school hours, in the evenings with some weekend work so staff are expected to be flexible in their working arrangements to meet the needs.
